we can be found at the same websites as previously, but we are changing slightly. we are returning to our Mod roots. the already established shows will continue as they already are, but we are looking to recruit new djs and have a couple lined up that are very mod influenced.

yup, the third installment of Rock And Roll Lounge’s alldayers is happening on saturday.
this time we take over the Jam Bar in Birkenhead. from 3pm to 3am.
we’ve already been booked for two more. Good Friday back at The Frog And Parrot in Sheffield, then to Cord Bar in the northern quarter in Manchester.

The Boy has taken Barnsley, i have taken the mighty Leeds United.
we’ve played 5 league games each so far. he has won more than me.
no suprise there then.
much gnashing of teeth, tantrums, bad language and sulking too. the boy has been ok.
i have a week off. it is half term and i have a week off with The Boy.
we intend to have a fifa 13 tournament. once he cleans his room.
it took him over an hour to get dressed today, so i am guessing we’ll be kicking off around 5pm.
The Enemy has thursday and friday off.
on friday we’re off to see my mate. not seen her since her birthday last year.
The enemy has never met her, so it will be good to get them together. we helped each other through some pretty shitty times last year. been too long.
in other news, i have a kindle fire hd. in fact i am writing this post on it. pretty cool huh?

yup, it’s called SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY and it’s just me and her laid in bed chatting nonesense like we always tend to do on a saturday morning. i’ve thought about recording it for ages now, and eventually convinced her to agree. episode one can be heard above or downloaded HERE and eventually, if enough folks listen and like what we’re going to be doing, we’ll also be on mixlr & iTunes.

ALL DAY AND ALL OF THE NIGHT #2
as some of you may be aware i am now part of a collective of dj’s known as The Rock & Roll Lounge. they’ll appear almost anywhere people want them to, and have a sort of residency in a couple of places.
in december they did the first 12 hour “All Day……” and i was on the setlist and it was a roaring success. so we’re doing it again on 2nd february. from 1pm to 1am at the Frog & Parrot on Division Street in Sheffield. it’s free entry, so it’d be nice to see you there.

i don’t make new years resolutions. they’re pointless. i make a promise to myself that i shall endevour to do a, b & c. but i don’t spout em out everywhere. yes, i AM going to here, but you’ll see why.
yes there’s the usual lose weight, drink less ones , but this year i am going to set out to do something different.
i have decided to learn to sign. i have a couple of deaf customers and we get by…. usually they write there questions in form of a text, but i want to be able to talk to them. at least say “hello, how are you” & “goodbye, see you next week”.
so i shall set about seeing what is freely available first, and then….. well, wath this space.

we watched Iron Lady on sunday. well, some of it. we gave it up within less than an hour. the constant time shift was just too annoying. that and the fact we both new it wouldn’t have a happy ending. the bitch is still alive
saturday was different. saturday we watched a cracking film.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. a british film about a group of retirees who have the chance to stay in the aforementioned hotel. Maggie Smith, Judi Dench (two dames for the price of one) Tom Wilkinson, Bill Nighy to name a few were the stars. and acted it perfectly. a gentle combination of the right amount of pathos and humour. i don’t know how this film slipped me by for so long. loved it. 10/10.
and so to next week. we’re off to the flicks this time. twice in a fortnight for me after taking The Boy to see The Hobbit (a tale for another day). i’m taking The Enemy to see this!

i’ve been reading a lot about theoretical physics.
i’ve almost decided that i want to BE a theoretical physicist.
i mean, fancy getting paid for ‘thinking’.
as a lifelong fan of H2G2* it’d be like being Vroomfondel or Majikthise!
but seriously.
Einstien was a thinker.
i read something in the new scientist magazine the other day, an article about light. the discussion about whether it is a wave form or particles. turns out that its both. but this wasn’t discovered until an experiment was run FOURTY THREE years after einstien suggested it. thats right, 43 years.
now that may seem a long time, but thats the thing. these physicists are thinking about things that no-one has the answers to. and it takes many years for science ‘fact’ to catch up to science ‘fiction’. theory over practice.
how great is that?
i’m gonna sit here and think about stuff, then tell you all about it.
“so prove it” shout the masses.
and theres the rub. you don’t have to. and you probably can’t. not with current technology/understanding. so you sit back for years, sometimes decades, and watch other folks try and do so. if they do, they will probably name the findings after you. if they don’t, then hey….. you’re only a THINKER!
