inspired by candy minxs latest post, i thought i would start an occasional series of review type thingies of places on my doorstep that you ought to visit.
the first of these is YORKSHIRE SCULTURE PARK.
home of a permanent henry moore exhibition, it also houses temporary exhibitions in its underground gallery. as far as i am aware, there is no fee to visit. there definately isn’t for the sculpture park, except for the parking.
enough of the chat, more moore!

by road Less than 1 mile from M1 exit 38. Follow brown heritage road signs to YSP – turn off at the first roundabout on the A637. Car park £3 per day. Free to blue badge holders.
by train Wakefield Westgate is the nearest main line station. London King’s Cross to Wakefield ? around 2 hours.
by bus West Yorkshire – call 0113 245 7676 South Yorkshire – call 01709 515151

i have just rung and it is all free, but they ask for a donation. which is fine by me. see. see the lengths i go to just to make your lives easier?

  1. Sculpture Park of things you find in the toilet? Sorry, that was in very very bad taste, wasn’t it? It is too early to be seeing this.

  2. It is incredible to see those sculptures outside like that…what a beautiful landscape and the area you ahil from looks just great. I love the one photo taken from up on a hill…with the female figure curled up…and the hills behind her.

Wonderful! I wish I could pop over there right now.

  3. candy: i am thinking of going up and taking a few photos for myself.
if they come out ok, i will mail them to you .
camie: it’s a bronze sculpture. a very large one at that!
pup: don’t worry. she’s a woman, and they need a caffine start up that early!
